Diet Medicine Containing Ephedrine Seized By Prosecutor

After receiving information regarding a Chinese medicine clinic in Jhonghe City suspected of illegally selling diet medicine containing Ephedrine to outpatients, Chief Prosecutor of Banciao District Prosecutors Office assigned the case to Head Prosecutor Sy, Han-Der. Head Prosecutor Sy immediately ordered the police to carry out a thorough investigation to trace the source of the suspected diet medicine.

On Sep. 30th 2010, the police, directed by Head Prosecutor Sy and accompanied by the staff of Public Health Bureau of Taipei County government, searched a biotechnological company in Minsyong Township, Chiayi County. Up to 200 thousand pills containing Ephedrine and more than 10 bank account books were found and seized soon afterwards. In the meantime, prosecutor Chen, Feng-Nian also searched some Chinese medicine clinics in Jhonghe City and Taipei City. Several bottles of diet medicine containing Ephedrine and trade receipts were also found and seized.

For the safety of public health, Head Prosecutor Sy also directed the police to trace the location of pharmaceutical factories providing the suspected diet medicine and other Chinese medicine clinics identified as the buyers of the above-mentioned medicine.
