Bribery Knock-Down Is On The Road!!

 

Taipei County is set to hold three-in-one election for city mayor, city councilors and borough chiefs at the same time in November this year. .It’s expected to be an extremely intense election due to the upgrade from Taipei County to New Taipei City.

 

In order to express her strong solution to fight against bribery and build a fair and clean environment for this election, Tsai Bi-Yu, the Chief Prosecutor of Banciao Prosecutors Office, together with the staffs from Banciao City Office, held the “Carnival for Environmental Protection Rating Awards” at “The Extremely Hot Zone” (near the intersection of Chongqing Rd. and Sec. 1, Xianmin Blvd.) at 17:30 on September 25th, 2010, attracting nearly 1000 people to participate.

 

Chief Prosecutor Tsai urged the voters not to accept any money, gifts, coupons, or daily necessities from the candidates. Any Candidate sending or delivering those items has already committed the crime of bribery. Bribery can never be eradicated unless we the voters refuse to accept the bribe.

 

During the event, Chief Prosecutor Tsai, together with Banciao City Mayor Chang Huei-Chen, cut the ribbons of the special “Bus to Crack Down Bribery”. They also packed the items symbolized as bribe into the trash bags and threw them into the above-mentioned special bus.

 

Later, crowd participating the carnival also painted the totem of anti-bribery on the exterior of the special bus. The bus will drive through every corner of Taipei County so that every voter can collect the disgusting practice of bribery and dump it into the bus.

 

The crackdown of bribery is just a beginning, with a long and winding road ahead. This event of carnival marks the commitment of anti-bribery, without which the prosperity for the future of New Taipei City can never be realized.
